Smart home solutions Smart home electrical systems such as NEST can save you time and money, as well as helping you stay safe. There are lots of products, with all kinds of benefits. For example:
Intelligent thermostats that learn about your home and lifestyle, increasing energy efficiency and reducing your bills
Smart security cameras that identify people, enable remote audio and video communications and send information to your phone
Advanced smoke and CO2 alarms that test themselves and can tell the difference between burnt food and ‘real’ smoke.
To get the most from your smart home, you can buy additional products that link together to make life easier. Products that work with the core NEST range include Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Phillips hue lightbulbs and a system called Home Connect that does the laundry, washes up, brews coffee and even tells you what’s in the fridge.

Electrical safety checks
Like gas safety checks, regular electrical checks are a requirement of Landlord’s Insurance. Business owners must have Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) carried out every 12 months, plus Fixed Electrical Testing every one to five years.
Piped Up can carry out these tests and provide recognised certification to keep you legal. We can also do routine checks in between formal inspections, to flag up any faults or issues.
If you’re a homeowner, it’s a good idea to have an electrical safety check done if you’re moving into or out of your home. Get in touch to book an appointment with a qualified engineer.
